The following maps appear on this web site because it is believed that
our ancestors, including Karl F. DuKatz, came from Eastern Europe.
We are interested in the entire history of the area, however, we focus on the
face of the land at the time of Karl's birth and his departure from Europe.

Some of the following maps are very large.
Attempts to reduce their size caused a lose of
detail, therefore, they remain their original size.

Between 1815 and 1870 Europe remained as
shown in the picture to the left.

DuKatz was born in 1840.

From 1871 to the early 1900s Europe appeared
as shown in the picture to the right.
This is the way Europe looked when Karl and
his family left Europe for the United States.
